The Highlands History
The Highlands was developed by the OImsted Brothers in 1907 and originally featured just 50 tracts. Today the neighborhood is home to 112 lots, plus 66 acres of green space. Until recently, the area was an unincorporated neighborhood, and all mail sent to residents simply needed a name followed by “The Highlands, Seattle.” Though now part of the City of Shoreline, the neighborhood maintains its own roads, landscaping, and water and sewer systems, all paid for by the homeowners’ association.
